Since the 1980s Emerson has been the market leader in the switching power supply market. However, its leadership position is being challenged. Emerson no longer enjoyes competitive advantages with threats and pressures coming from both the supply-side and demand-side. As a result, there were numerous supply chain initiatives from the corporate headquarters to address the dual-side pressures. The case can be effectively used to discuss how a typical China-based enterprise facing the dual-side pressures propagated along the overall supply chain, is still able to survive in the market through improved internal operations, information visibility, and enhanced supplier and customer integration.
