A common practice in companies and business schools involves benchmarking organizations in the industry to learn new strategies and approaches to increase value of the firm. However, there is limited practice of threading global benchmarking into traditional educational leadership programs. Understanding global benchmarking in education is greatly needed for educational leaders in the 21st century. This paper will share how a university designed and integrated a global benchmarking session into the MBA Finance & Strategic Resource Allocation in Education course, using an applied pedagogical approach. Survey results from students indicated that overall, the session provided them with a global perspective of the course material and helped them apply the course material as leaders in their schools.
