Kingfisher Airlines - "Flying the Bad Times": A Human Resource Perspective

Kingfisher Airlines Limited was an airline group based in India. From the time since it started its operations in 2005, the airline reported losses. Kingfisher had been encountering severe financial issues for many years which eventually led to the shutdown of its operations on 20th October, 2012. The airline faltered in paying salaries to its employees and this was followed by a series of problems. This case attempts to bring out the ethical and employee relation issues faced by Kingfisher. The case incorporates the series of events that took place with a special focus on the ethical and industrial relation issues such as strikes, lockouts, and other incidences of industrial dispute faced by Kingfisher and its impact on all the stakeholders of the company. The reaction of employees as well as the response from the management is highlighted in the case. Not only the retrospective incidences and events are taken into account but the case also describes the current situation and how events have been unfolding to the present day.
