E-Portfolios: A Case Example from Masters Level Business Students
Marita Naudé
Curtin University of Technology, Australia
Volume 3: 2010, pp. 45-64; ABSTRACT
The e-portfolio was implemented in the Leadership Development unit in a Masters level degree for Business students aiming to capture accomplishment of learning objectives, stimulate personal leadership development and long-term professional development, and engage students in reflective learning. Feedback indicated that the e-portfolio stimulated self-reflection and reflective thinking, enhanced personal and professional development, assisted in assessing goals, was useful for job applications and career management, developed skills that are transferable to and valuable in the work place. While it was clear that some students experienced technical difficulties and found developing the e-portfolio a repetitive and difficult process, it was evident that the benefits outweighed the difficulties. Based on the students’ and the educator’s experience, recommendations are provided for future use.
